Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly & Martin Dugard

  1. I'm really enjoying this book (haven't finished it yet). I am normally not someone who enjoys non-fiction, but this books is written in more of a fictional format, making it much more enjoyable! In the story the writer bounces back and forth between what is happening in Lincoln's world, John Wilkes Booth world and on the front lines of the Civil War. This makes it interesting to read as you are able to see so many different perspectives at once, but I can also see this causing a problem for our lower level readers who might have difficulty keeping up with the story line. While I would definitely recommend this book to people, I would not recommend for a school wide read, as it does not necessarily capture the readers attention right away. Non Fiction books would be harder to do as summer reading, if we are wanting to build more readers and help them to enjoy reading.
